Notary lawyer near me in Dubai: the document first, then the notary

If you searched for a notary lawyer near me, you most likely have a document that needs a notary's seal and you want someone who knows the law to get it right. Notario Lawyers does the legal work around that seal: we draft or check the document, prepare the Arabic text, and our in-house notary public notarises it. We have in-house, in person notary public services, online notary public services and home visit notary services. You sign once, with the paperwork already in order.

People search for this in many ways: notary lawyer, notary advocate, advocate for notary near me, legal notary. They all point to the same need. Behind it are two separate roles, the person who prepares the document and the notary who notarises it, and knowing which is which saves time, money and a second trip.

A

At a glance

In the UAE, only public notaries, private notaries and accredited UAE consuls may carry out notarial acts (Federal Decree-Law No. 20 of 2022, Article 3).

In Dubai, notaries work under Dubai Law No. 4 of 2013: a government notary public at Dubai Courts, and private notaries registered on a roll kept by Dubai Courts.

Every private notary in Dubai is a lawyer, licensed by Dubai Courts to act as a notary. Other lawyers are not notaries by default.

We prepare the document, and our in-house notary public checks your ID, your capacity and your consent, and applies the seal.

Our office is on the 10th floor, Battuta Gate offices, Dubai. Most of the preparation happens by WhatsApp and email.

What a "notary lawyer" is in Dubai

The phrase mixes two jobs, and the law keeps them apart.

RoleWhat they doCan they notarise?
Government notary public (Dubai Courts)Notarises documents as a public official of Dubai CourtsYes
Private notaryA lawyer licensed by Dubai Courts to act as a notary and listed on its rollYes, within the functions assigned to private notaries
Advocate or lawyerAdvises clients and represents them, including before the courts where licensed to do soOnly if also registered as a notary
Accredited UAE consul abroadNotarises for people outside the UAEYes, under Article 3 of the federal notary law

So a "notary lawyer" in the strict sense is a private notary. What most people mean, though, is a lawyer or legal professional who will take care of the document so the notarisation goes through. That is the work we do. For the full explanation of the difference between a notary and an advocate, read our guide on whether a lawyer is a notary public, and for who is allowed to become one, can a lawyer be a notary.

Step by step

What we do before the notary

This is where most of the value is, because a notary works with the document you bring.

01

Identify the right document

A letter that should be a power of attorney, or an affidavit that should be a declaration, can be refused or can fail later. We tell you which instrument fits your purpose.

02

Draft or review it

We write the text from your instructions, or check the draft you have. Names and ID numbers are copied from the IDs themselves. Powers and permissions are listed as specific acts.

03

Prepare the Arabic

Dubai's notary law requires Arabic, or a foreign language text with an Arabic translation by a certified translator, both signed. We prepare a bilingual text or a translation, through our legal translation service.

04

Check the signatories

Who must sign, in what capacity, and with which ID. For a company, whether the person signing is authorised under the MOA.

05

Sign with our notary

You sign before our in-house notary public, in person at the office, online or on a home visit, depending on the document, the timing and your location.

At the notary

You attend with the original ID of every person signing. Under Article 7 of the federal notary law, the notary verifies the identity of the people concerned, checks their capacity and consent, and reads out the content and its effect. If you do not speak the language, an interpreter from the Ministry's register interprets for you. Then the notary applies the seal and the document is notarised.

If you cannot attend in person, tell us early. Dubai Courts has supported virtual attendance for some notarial services, and the Ministry of Justice runs an E-Notary System for remote notarisation. Which of these fits depends on the document.

After the notary

A notarised document is not always the end. If it will be used in another country, it usually needs attestation by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFAIC) and then by that country's embassy. The UAE is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, so there is no apostille route from the UAE. We tell you what the receiving country asks for before you sign, so the document is prepared for the whole route.

Government notary or private notary?

Both notarise, and a document notarised by either is a notarised document. The practical differences are availability, location and price.

  • The Dubai Courts notary public is the government notary, with service centres across Dubai and online channels.
  • A private notary works from their own office, often with more flexible appointments, and may visit you for an extra charge. Dubai private notary fees are set by a Dubai Courts decision: AED 100 per party for registration and AED 100 per signature, and AED 1,000 per trip outside the notary's place of work, according to the Dubai Media Office.

We recommend the route that fits the document and your timing, and we tell you the government fee in advance.

DIFC documents. The DIFC has its own courts and its own notary service. A document for a DIFC matter goes there; a document for use in onshore Dubai does not.

Questions to ask anyone offering notary lawyer services

Anyone can put "notary" in an advert. Before you pay, ask:

  • Who will notarise the document: the Dubai Courts notary public, or a named private notary on the Dubai Courts roll?
  • Which part of the price is the government fee, and which part is the service fee?
  • Will the document have an Arabic text, and who prepares it?
  • What exactly will you draft or check, and will I see the text before the signing?
  • If the document is refused, what happens next and what does it cost?

We answer all five before you pay.

When you need an advocate instead

Some searches for a notary advocate are really searches for a court lawyer. If your document is part of a dispute that is already in court or about to be, such as a claim for unpaid rent, a divorce or a criminal complaint, the person you need is a practising advocate who can represent you. Drafting and notarising a document does not replace that. Tell us at the start if there is a dispute behind your document, and we will tell you plainly whether a drafted and notarised document is the right step, or whether you need court representation first.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

If your question is not here, ask it on WhatsApp. Tell us what the document is for and who will sign it.

Can any lawyer in Dubai notarise my document?

No. Only a notary may notarise. In Dubai that means the government notary public at Dubai Courts or a private notary registered on the Dubai Courts roll. A private notary is a lawyer, but a lawyer who is not registered as a notary cannot notarise.

What does a notary advocate near me actually do?

The words usually describe someone who prepares the document and takes you to the notary. The notarisation itself is done by the notary public. A good preparer makes sure the document is right before that step.

Do I need to go to a notary in person?

Usually yes, with your original ID. Remote routes exist for some documents through Dubai Courts and the Ministry of Justice E-Notary System. Ask us which applies to yours.

Can you help if I am outside the UAE?

Yes. We draft and translate the document by email. You can then sign before an accredited UAE consul, before a notary in your country followed by attestation, or remotely where your document allows it.

Will you tell me the notary fee before I book?

Yes. The notary fee is a government fee charged at cost, and we show it separately from our own price before you pay.
