Dubai Courts notary public fees: what sets the amount you pay

Dubai Courts notary public fees are set per notarial act, and the act is decided by your document: a power of attorney, an affidavit, a signature authentication or a contract by value each has its own line. So the same letter can cost different amounts depending on how it is drafted and how many people sign. This page explains the published figures we can source, and where to confirm the rest.

Dubai runs its own notary system under Dubai Law No. 4 of 2013, so Dubai's fees are not simply the federal ones. The federal fee schedule applies in the emirates that follow the federal system, and Dubai Courts sets its own. Knowing which schedule applies stops you comparing the wrong numbers.

A

At a glance

Dubai private notaries charge under a Dubai Courts decision: AED 100 per party for registration, AED 100 per signature, and AED 1,000 per trip outside the notary's place of work, according to the Dubai Media Office.

The federal schedule, Cabinet Resolution No. 19 of 2024, is a separate schedule for the federal system. It does not automatically set Dubai Courts fees.

Our own service price is separate from all government fees.

Which fee applies: the document decides

A notary charges for an act, not for a sheet of paper. The main lines are:

Power of attorney

Charged per party to the POA.

Affidavit

Charged per affidavit.

Signature authentication

Charged per party or per signature.

Contracts with a value

Charged by value bands, with a percentage for large amounts.

Translation included in the instrument

Charged per page.

A declaration or a NOC can be drafted as an affidavit or as a document with an authenticated signature. With two parties signing, the choice changes the fee. It also changes how the receiving office reads the document, which is why we decide the form based on what that office needs, then tell you the fee line in advance. See our document drafting and notarization page for how that choice is made.

Prices

The federal schedule, for comparison

Cabinet Resolution No. 19 of 2024 applies to public and private notaries under the federal system. Its main lines are:

ActFederal fee
Execution or notarisation of a general or special POAAED 100 per party
Authenticating signatures, instrument of unspecified valueAED 200 per party
Executing and notarising an affidavitAED 300
Notarising a translation included in the instrumentAED 50 per page
Instrument above AED 100,0000.5 percent of value, maximum AED 15,000 for execution or AED 30,000 for notarisation

Under Article 2, a private notary in the federal system may add 30 percent of the prescribed fee as a professional fee, so a POA through a federal private notary is AED 130 per party. The federal decree-law on notaries excludes local judicial authorities with their own notary legislation, which is why Dubai has separate figures.

Dubai Courts notary public fees by document

What private notaries in Dubai charge

Dubai Courts regulates private notary fees through a decision reported by the Dubai Media Office: AED 100 per party for registration, AED 100 per signature, and AED 1,000 for each trip outside the notary's place of work. A private notary is a lawyer licensed by Dubai Courts to act as a notary, and a private notary's appointment can be more flexible than the government counters. The trip fee is what makes a home or hospital visit more expensive.

Other costs on top of the notary fee

  • Translation into Arabic, if your document is not already bilingual.
  • MOFAIC attestation, if the document goes abroad: AED 150 for a personal document, AED 2,000 for a commercial one.
  • Our service price for drafting, translation coordination and booking. See legal document fees.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

If your question is not here, ask it on WhatsApp. Tell us what the document is for and who will sign it.

Is the Dubai Courts notary fee the same as the federal fee?

Not necessarily. Dubai has its own notary law and fee decisions, and the federal schedule applies to the federal system. Some lines have similar figures, but check the Dubai figure for a Dubai signing.

Why did I pay more than the published fee?

Usually because more than one fee line applied: several parties, several signatures, a translation, or a private notary's registration and signature fees together. Ask for the fee breakdown by line.

Are Dubai Courts notary fees paid by the person signing?

The fee is paid when the notarial act is done. Who in a deal bears it is for the parties to agree. We pass government fees through at cost and show them separately.

Does a notary charge more for a document in English?

The notary charges for the act. A document without Arabic may need a translation, which adds a translation cost and, where the translation is notarised with it, a per page fee.
